Hey Folks, welcome back to another blog where I help you take your power back while using Astrology.
Today, we will cover what Saturn Returns mean and how you can make the most of it so that you are not caught by surprise.
If you have already experienced your first Saturn return, this blog will also be helpful for reflection on your experiences and for preparing for the next.
So let’s start by covering what Saturn is.
What is Saturn?
Saturn in astrology is the elder of the planets or “father-figure” with great lessons to teach.
Although the Sun in astrology signifies our father and how we relate to our father-figures, I often like to relate to Saturn as the father’s teachings.
Saturn offers us our hardest lessons to become who we are meant to be, while also benefiting our community and society at large.
But if you do not try to better yourself during your return, you will find that Saturn can be the source of sorrows, miseries, and depression.
Now, don’t get me wrong, even if you are learning the lessons and doing your best to keep up, Saturn can be complicated and isolating.
It’s the nature of Saturn.
But with the shift of perspective, these hard lessons can be managed by using teachings from elders.
Saturn transits can also bring times when finances and or other resources are slim and require you to get creative with the little that you have.
Avoiding overindulging and spending is highly recommended when dealing with Saturn times.
But what about Saturn returns? What makes them special?
Saturn Keywords: Source of sorrow, misery, long-lasting punishment, grief, past karma, depressions, tears, deceit, childlessness, miserable, resistance and what we resist, avoid and avoidance, lies, captivities, mishaps, slander, disrepute, and trouble, old doings, help from ancient or obsolete things or older persons, help from elder brother, childlessness, widowhood, orphanhood, maturity
What is the Saturn Return?
A Saturn return is when the Saturn transit returns to the natal Saturn placement.
In other words, Saturn returns to the place it was when you were born.
This usually occurs between the ages of 27 and 30.
During this age span, you are experiencing your first Saturn return, and it could be extremely challenging.
Usually, during this time, you are realizing that you are not getting any younger, and you must figure out what you are doing with your life.
You might start a new career, get married, move to a new town, or get a divorce to start a new life.
It depends on where Saturn is placed in your chart and the choices you have made.
Saturn can bring about moments of realization that what you have been taught your whole life is a lie and not applicable to the life you want to create for yourself.
So with this revelation, you have to start from the ground up and create habits that will get you to where you want to go.
And hopefully, make it there by your next Saturn return around 57-60 years old.
The Medicine I received from my Saturn Return
During my Saturn return, my business, Emerald Astrology, has become extremely important to me.
Because of the desire to get it up and running through an in-person setting, I was able to move towns and find where I am most comfortable and celebrated for my unusual occult gifts (natal Saturn in the 8th house).
It hasn’t been easy due to being a “vagabond”…which Vettius Valens, Anthology Book II, was right about, “But if the malefics are there [8th house], ruling the Lot [of Fortune], the [natives] become vagabonds; and if they ever acquire anything, they lose it.”
But I think with my Venus sextile to Saturn, I was able to hold onto most of my stuff in storage and didn’t lose everything that was of value to me.
Instead, I was able to store all my belongings and live out of my car with my husband for about a year, following our clients wherever they were, and find a new home.
Dealing with extreme Texas weather sucked, but we got through it, and I was able to see how to best take care of my finances through lean times thanks to my husband’s support.
Which is another thing to keep in mind, if you are about to experience your Saturn return, you must consider any aspects that are contacting your natal Saturn.
If you have Venus or Jupiter (the benefics) ruling the house Saturn is in, or even better, aspecting Saturn, you have a lot of support during your Saturn return.
If you have Mars aspecting Saturn, or no aspects from any planet, it can be even more challenging and or isolating, respectively.
