What Does the Moon Mean in Astrology?
The Moon in your chart shows how your mother nurtured you, what is needed to feel emotionally satisfied, and how you go about fulfilling those needs. In esoteric astrology, the soul hides in the moon sign. Meaning you have tendencies to express the sign’s lower qualities due to reacting to a situation, especially when in an intimate relationship.
There’s a tendency to use manipulation to attain emotional satisfaction instead of honesty about personal needs. The Moon also reveals your insecurities. Therefore it shows what you do when you retreat into vices; food, people, emotions, status, or things.
Even though your Moon sign is where your soul hides, it is also where your greatest strength can be found. By looking at the Moon placement, there’s a hint of how to address internal needs and integrate with “darker” or unseen parts of yourself. By nourishing your emotional needs daily, you can nourish those around you by providing intimacy, acceptance, and nonverbal care.
*keep in mind that this article only covers the surface of this particular placement. You must consider your Moon’s relationship to other planets in your birth chart*
Scorpio Moon Sign Meaning
When your natal Moon is in Scorpio in the 8th house, you are wise, magnetic, and magical. The way you can connect with people is unmatched, and frequently, people change when they meet you.
You carry a mysterious aura and possess such a depth that creates space for others to process their inner workings without you having to say a word.
However, when you can connect with another sexually or financially, that is when the magic happens and where you can address your inner workings. You have dealt with traumatic experiences throughout your life, and it has created a great impression on your psyche. It is also likely that you suffer from your ancestors’ old guilt and shame, and it shows up through the way you react to emotional stimuli.
Because of this ancient guilt and learned behavior, you are here to process it with another you trust and rise to a new expression. With this responsibility, you have a great need for control, power, loyalty, and emotional depth with your relationships. You can not evolve alone so having someone along your side is paramount.
You must learn to trust in yourself and others to become greater and develop discernment of who you let in your circle and trust your intuition.
You can not stand surface-level connections and rather be alone until you can find the one to share your emotional depth with, and this is natural. Due to the painful past, you can come off broody, compulsive, paranoid, and emotionally intense. This is the case, especially after someone has gotten to know you and is involved with you financially or sexually.
Nonetheless, your emotional intensity is a gift.
It gives you the energy you need to grow and express more of who you are inside. You have the gift of Goddess Hecate and are here to claim your wise, psychic, intuitive mind and release guilt and shame for your striking insights. You are magic, and this ability is due to your connection to your mother.
Moon in Scorpio Relationship with Mother
The connection to your mother or mother figure is not as easy as others. The way you perceive your mother is powerful, dominant, rigid, and not afraid to speak up and defend what is hers.
She is the Great and Terrible Mother and is the embodiment of Kali or another Dark Goddess. She has great emotional intensity and a remarkable ability to command emotional responses from you.
You might have felt unsafe because of her emotional unpredictability and tendency to control what you express and demanded loyalty even when you felt like she wasn’t loyal to you.
This kind of relationship to mother has made you emotionally intense, powerful, and controlling at times. Your tendency to repress your feelings to feel safe can create a black hole effect that pulls everything and everyone in to fill your void.
This marvelous pull demands others to respond to you with great intensity and loyalty or feel repulsed by you. Nothing has made them feel so deeply, and naturally, with this deep connection you have to them (like your mother), you have fear of abandonment and loss of control.
But suppose you release the dark pattern and tendency to control your emotions and relationships. In that case, you can free yourself from this dynamic and give yourself what you crave — loyalty to yourself and a deep connection to others.
Scorpio Moon Emotional Needs
What you need to feel safe and secure is loyalty to yourself and a deep intimate connection to those who matter. When growing up, you were used to abandoning your needs and suppressing what you feel because the household you were raised in didn’t tolerate the expression of deep, raw emotions.
Of course, this can only go so far until you fall apart at the seams and the emotions boil over as uncontrollable outbursts. So the first step you can take to take care of your needs is to embrace what you feel when in a relationship with another.
Do you feel like you are in control of yourself or the other is controlling you? Allow yourself to express what you feel so whatever slight or misunderstanding can be understood instead of waiting until the situation is a bigger problem.
You need relationships that can be a safe space for you to express your joy, passion and give you enough space to process your darker feelings when they come up from time to time.
Speaking to a therapist to help you see what you are feeling will also help you process your past and stop it from stealing your joy in the present moment.
Your need for change and mystery in life is necessary, and doing things that enhance your self-worth is needed. It is pertinent that you bond with another who helps you establish a positive self-image and gives you the freedom to express yourself in whatever form you need.
Transformation is a big part of your journey, and must be embraced instead of holding on to the past.
How to integrate
How you can integrate and feel whole is channel all of your emotions and energy to build the new. You can focus on what you do want in a relationship or life in general and devote yourself to finding the right solution.
It is easy to get caught up in the past and feel overwhelmed by all of the wrongs done. But once you face it and see that all that has happened wasn’t because they were out to get you. It happened because they weren’t focusing on healing and addressing their pain.
You can be the example of how to heal and move forward to all who have hurt you or feel hurt. You can build healthy relationships that will go into the depths of you and give you a sense of fulfillment.
You can bond with others through positive change rather than trauma bonding and be the phoenix who rises from the ashes. In other words, the intense feelings that you hold are the catalyst you need for inner exploration and massive breakthroughs to a fulfilling life.
How to nourish others
Once you can master yourself and not be a danger to yourself or another, you can inspire others to go through the same process of inner exploration.
Others can benefit from you and your lessons, and you can hold space for them to be themselves and discover their ability to face the truth, heal, and transform.
You can nourish others through your insight about life and show them the way to themselves. But it all starts with you going on the inward journey on your own.
